In the valleys and mountains of Wales, especially in the Snowdon National Park, the steam railway has been part of the landscape for more than a century. Here we see pretty little engines and beautiful great mountains. Using materials hewn from the rock, these railways have truly changed the landscape forever. The steam locomotives and the trains themselves have great charm and they are amongst the most beautiful of man’s creations, set amidst some of nature’s finest landscapes. 
Did the railway change Scotland or did Scotland change the railway? Whatever the answer, Scotland’s railways have always had a unique character, and were used to bring industry to its cities and civilisation to its extremities. Little stations and single-track lines shape the mountains and some of the most beautiful locomotive liveries of all time had their origins in the Kingdom's Glens and Lochs.
